A piece of good news to share. I wrote an article for The Bug Magazine that is going to print next week. I am so excited about it and I will be sharing some goodies that go along with that article when it comes out. Stay tuned!
The scrapbooking of our trip to Puerto Rico continues. I am working on the day we spent in Old San Juan walking around. The weather was so perfect when we were there and I loved exploring the old city.
I really thought the castles/forts in Old San Juan were worth hauling our butts too. There are two in the old city and this is the smaller of the two though I think both are worth checking out. Castillos de San Cristobal was the largest military structure built by the Spanish in the Americas.
San Cristóbal watched over the land east of Old San Juan. Building a fortification that protected the city from a land invasion proved to be a wise move. In 1797, the fort helped repel an invasion by Sir Ralph Abercrombie.
You can almost imagine having to stand guard there, staring out at the sea looking for changes in the endless blue. Very cool history. We learned a lot walking around and the kids loved exploring and running around as well. The views were just amazing.
Enough raving about the castle :) I love working with these new simple stamps I got from Stampin' Up: Dot, Dot, Dot, Solid Stripes and Fine Flourish. This time, I decided to add some stripes on the scalloped border that I punched out. I thought it added some great visual texture!
