Disney Pages

We went to Disney in June and boy was it HOT. I think I had fun. Honestly, I mostly remembering just sweating and sheer exhaustion. Kidding aside, we did have a good time. We got to go back with my bestie, Disney Heather (check it out at disneyheather.com a site by Fancy with Nancy) and her family. I was supposed to go on my own but my husband, being smarter than I (and don't tell him that I said that), decided to come with us last minute.

So here are my highlights from the trip. Whenever we go on vacation, I try try try to get the album done as soon as we get home so the memories are fresh. Since I have started, I am 3/3 so let's hope that trend continues.
Visiting Cinderella and her crew at Park Fare 1900

We had a lot of princesses to contend with :)

I should do a close up of these pages, Animal Kingdom
Dinoland!

This is about where I got lazy and stopped taking the pages out of the album.

I think this album demonstrates pretty well what my style has become. Though I have noticed subtle changes since I completed these pages.  I love my Cricut and Stampin' Up products add to it nicely.

SU: Build a Blossom and Elements of Style come together

I was over the moon when I saw the new SU mini catalog for the new year.  I have TRIED to not buy to many flower sets but they get me every time. As soon as I saw Build a Blossom and the matching punch set, I was sold. After working with the new punch, I am still uncertain if I really like it. It is nice and it takes less time to get your flower going since cutting takes longer. However, I do like to cut a lot.  And the waste of paper and the time spent on where to place the stamped image to be able to use the punch might just marginally outweigh the time saved by using the punch. Time will tell.

My friend Linnea (imagestoadore.com) took some awesome pictures of the family this fall. I am in love with the new SU Early Espresso and the in color Blushing Bride paired together nicely with the colors in these pictures. I think if I could do this page over again, I would have done Very Vanilla instead of Whisper White.

Here are the details. I love to make these ruffles. I use the punch, rough it up (I even made my daughter laugh when I was stepping all over it), tear the paper into to pieces when they start to separate and ruffle away.

Love love love the pearl embellishments. The small ones are so sweet. The SU pearls are way better than any others that I have come across.

Christmas Present - Little Albums

I really like this little photo album book that I made for Christmas presents. I ended up making a dozen of them. Some I left empty and some I added pictures of the kids depending on the recipient. I cut two scallop circles on the Cricut with some thin cardboard and covered it with SU Not Quite Navy.  The flower is created with two scallop circle punches that have been roughed up, separated and messed up to look like a vintage flower. You HAVE to love SU's vintage brads. I cannot get enough of them.

On the inside, I used two separate pieces of paper to create the accordion (since I did not have 12x12).  I got this idea from the SU! Demonstrator Stampin Success magazine. I hope everyone who received it, loved it!

Christmas Present - A outerspace scape!

Similar to create than the fairyscape, for a present for boys, I created an outerspace scape which my daughter really enjoyed as well! I used another set that I had found from svgcuts.com called Out of this World.

Here is a closeup of the magnets I used. I bought them from ebay.  They are called Neodymium Magnets. They are SUPER strong but because they are little, they are perfect for adhering to paper. I tried the magnet strips that you can cut but they were just not strong enough. I wanted to be able to hold and shake the board upside down and have everything stay in its' place.

Making presents for kids can always be a bit tricky. Last year, I crocheted different types of amigurumi - fairies, dinosaurs, and even a Dorothy for Clara (which she then cut the hair off of which is a whole different story).  I had originally thought of making magnet paper dolls, but honestly you can BUY some pretty nice ones for not that much money.  I finally came up with this idea after finding some fun images from svgcuts.com to use on my Make-The-Cut (MTC) for my Cricut. I cut some woodland fairies in black and white and then cut flowers in a variety of colors.  After my DH cut some wooden boards for me in 12x12, I painted them with several coats of magnetic paint. After giving it a coat of blue and green with a black branch on it, I varnished the surface and mounted it with a hanging bracket on the back.  After piecing together all the fairies and flowers, I super glued them on very string small magnets and VOILA! A fun and interactive piece of art.

After everything was placed on the boards, I gave it a good spray of glitter shimmer from SU!. I love that product. All you have to do is mix the shimmer paints with some rubbing alcohol.

Thank you from Fancy With Nancy

This is the second year that I have used Stampin' Up!s My Digital Studio (MDS) to create my thank you cards.  It is so easy once I have the pictures edited to create a quick card just by using their included templates. I used one of their templates and changed it to my needs.

I changed the colors to match the colors I used in my Christmas cards. The I easily changed the background to Basic Grey and then removed some of the embelllishments in order to make room for all the pictures. I used the photo box as a place holder.  I added the pictures and VOILA! A quick thank you card to include with a thank you note!

Christmas Present - Something to frame

Next up on the Christmas list is my sister-in-law.  I made a cute frame for her to put a picture of her kids.  I made it so she could stick in a 5x7 without have to cut the picture and then placed it in a 8x10 frame.  I used MTC and the Cricut to create the names.

Christmas Present - I love framing a 12x12

This one was for my MIL.  She just refinished her kitchen and most of the things in it have black and white accents.  Since I don't really take the kids to portrait studios since I really like to take pictures of them, my family does not always get pictures of the kids. I don't MEAN to do it but it is sure easier to have the pictures in hand to send out but taking your own pictures is such a task, pictures hardly get ordered! So, I thought finally printing one out, decorating and framing it was the way to go with this present. I hope she likes it!

SU!: Cards for Christmas Presents - Card #1

I have learned a few things over my stamping years. Making cards for selling just does not work. Too much work can go into that little space and I can never seem to charge enough for my time, especially since I tend to spend TOO much time per card.  However, they do make GREAT presents and I often put my website on the back of my cards, to you know, spread the word out. Here are the 6 cards (separated out into different posts for tagging purses) that I made for presents this year. I decided to make 12 of each card design and selected from my vast collection to give out to teachers, friends and family. I hope they use them!

SU!: Season's Greetings

I can't believe that Christmas is only three days away! Lucky for me, I am done with Christmas presents. I did not do much shopping in the stores this year but I did decide to MAKE almost all of my presents. Over the next few days, I'll be posting about all the fun things that I have made. Since I truly am just starting out blogging about my crafts, I don't think anyone who is a recipient of these gifts will be looking. If you are looking... LOOK AWAY (at least until after Christmas).

But to start off simply and to continue my happy holiday mood, I wanted to share the Christmas card that I made with SU! Holiday Mini.

MTC: Script Fonts that weld

I am new to Make the Cut (MTC) as I just bought it this past summer. I love it very much and hardly use my gypsy anymore.  The one thing that I do struggle with are too many choices! You can basically cut almost all the fonts that you have (and I just checked, there are 816 in my folder).  Some are perfect to cut using MTC. I like to use caps for the most part because I hate looking for rogue dots to my i's on my desk. Let's face it, it is not a clean desk! However, I am willing to make an exception if the word welds perfectly for me and the only extra pieces I have are those dots.  After going through all my fonts that would load in MTC, I created a short list of script fonts that once added to my project, immediately welded without fussing around with their placement.  It certainly beats the list that I was storing on a post-it not on my desktop.

None of these are tested (as the thinner ones might be more work than they are worth) but they all welded with ease.  If you have any other recommendations, please share!
